Tour 5 – Daily Birding Tours and Gateway Packages


Departing from Istanbul via fast ferry service to Bandirma in the morning, arrival to Bandirma and proceeding Manyas Bird Paradise here we call as Kus Cenneti Milli Parki (Bird Paradise National Park) the greatest and very well established features giving guests to watch the birds. This 64-hectare reserve on the shores of Kus Golu – Bird Lake, the ancient Manias- boasts from two to three million feathered visitors of 255 different varieties, each year. The annual migration takes place in April to June and September to November. More than 60 species of bird, including Dalmatian Pelicans, Spoonbills, cormorants, various Owls, Ibis, Heron and Ducks breed here every year. The visitor center has exhibits of stuffed birds in simulated habitats. At dusk we’ll return back to Bandirma for catching the fast ferry service back to Istanbul.


Early in the morning we’ll depart for Sultan Marsh To the south of regional Cappadocia is the well known Sultan Marsh Bird Paradise (17.000 ha.), one of the most important wetlands in Turkey. This place has both fresh and brackish water ecosystems with a fascinating view of Mount Erciyes (3916 m.). Here at the wetland you will be able to see several water birds; Pygmy Cormorant, Dalmatian Pelican, Little Bittern, Night Heron, White Stork, Black Stork, Spoonbill, Glossy Ibis, thousands of Greater Flamingo, Gadwall, White-headed Duck, Greater Sand Plover, Avocet, Mediterranean Gull, Slender-billed Gull and Gull-billed Tern, as well as the Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Lesser Short-toed Lark and Isabellina Wheatear on the surroundings steppes. Late at night return back to Ankara


Very early morning we’ll depart for Camalti Saltpan that is one of the most important bird migrating sites in Izmir, “Bird Paradise” near Cigli for a session of bird watching, where Avocets are obvious, but many of the passage waders and gulls will prove more of an identification challenge. Exploring the species in this natural environment and after this exploration we’ll take you for a scientific exchanging idea sessions and vital exploration in Aegean University Faculty of Science, Ornithology Section of Zoology Division for today.

WILD LIFE IN GOKSU DELTA (From Adana or Mersin – Icel)

Today we’ll start our tour in the west part of Goksu Delta. We’ll be following a route passing through dunes, fresh and brackish water wetland ecosystems in search for the Cattle Egret, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Ferruginous Duck, Marbled Duck, Purple Gallinule, Spur-winged Plover, Rufous Bush Robin, Graceful Warbler and Fan-tailed Warbler. Black Francolin may suddenly appear in front of us along the dunes, plus Goksu River Canyon where you can may watch the Griffon Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Spotted Eagle, Peregrine, White-throated Robin and Rock Nuthatch. In Uzuncaburc you’ll observe the Golden Eagle, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Scops Owl, Black-eared Wheatears, Ruppel’s Warbler, Yellow-vented Bulbul and Krupper’s Nuthatch while the Bee-eater can be seen in the spring migration. Packed lunch will dbe served then we’ll drop you in Adana or Mersin.
